Quality of Life
- Support efforts to improve our public schools, charter and private schools, community colleges and universities and to fully fund their enrollment increases including:
- Support for the completion of the state’s financial commitment to Johnson & Wales.
- Support funding for faculty of UNC Charlotte’s Energy Production Infrastructure Center (EPIC).
- Support the UNC Charlotte football stadium complex project included in the UNC system’s non-appropriated capital projects list.
- Support tax credits to businesses who offer internships.
- Support the expansion of the NC Teaching Fellows program from 500 to 1,000 fellows per year.
- Support efforts to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the criminal justice system at the state and local level, specifically, to address technology and staffing issues.
- Support efforts to obtain and fund a magistrate for North Mecklenburg.
- Support public access swimming at county owned/operated lake parks in North Mecklenburg.
- Support and promote “regionalism” between the four lake towns in particular as we address infrastructure, economic development, and quality of life issues of common interest to our lake region. The Chamber should also advocate a Charlotte metro regional approach to infrastructure and legislative issues with neighboring counties.
- Support the preservation of current annexation laws.
